Book Review-Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

Rachel Morgan is a runner-responsible for bringing in supernatural criminals using her skill for magic. After getting countless crap assignments that all seem to go wrong, she decides to quit despite the rumours that a death contract is put on anyone who tries to leave. As it happens her boss was not going to have her killed until his best runner Ivy, a vampire, leaves to go into business with Rachel. Now Ivy and a pixy called Jenks are the only protection that Rachel has against the supernatural assassins that are coming after her. Rachel decides to try and buy her life back by giving them evidence against a man suspected of dodgy dealings-but getting the evidence is going to be dangerous.
Rachel is feisty and interesting as a character and her insecurities over Ivy's blood drinking is quite funny. Jenks is hilarious and the other characters we meet are interesting. The plot is fast moving and changes scene many times which keeps the book fresh and entertaining. A good start to the series and I look forward to reading the others very soon.
