Book Review-The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter

Ashlynn has a unique gift-wherever she is, she can hear the ghost of every old conversation ever taking place there and has been helping to solve crimes and find ancient cities of historical interest. Now she wants to stop the voices. On a hill in Budapest is a castle rumoured to be the home of powerful angels or demons with abilities that might help her. She is unaware that she is leading the enemy to these warriors, former bodyguards of the Gods of Olympus who have each been cursed for allowing Pandora's box to open and spread evil around the world. Now Aslynn is trapped in the castle, suspected as a spy with protection only from one warrior who has feelings for her, as the enemies are ready to strike.
Paranormal romance is a bit hit and miss for me but this was a very good read. You have sympathy for Ashlynn's plight and the cursed warriors all have interesting personalities. I felt the guys were given a much better back story and seperate personality compared to the Lara Adrian Midnight Breed series where the warriors were cold and empty most of the time. The added plot of the enemy closing in and the other warriors resentment of Ashlynn and the other female prisoners really added a bit of spice to the love story developing. This is a well written book and definitely worth a read even if paranormal romance isn't top of your list.
