Book Review-Flashforward by Robert J Sawyer

An experiment with a particle collider and a flukey weather combine to give everyone awake on the planet a brief glimpse 23 years into their future. Those asleep see things in their dreams. Those who see nothing will be dead before they reach that 23 year mark. Many people die as planes fall from the sky and cars scream out of control. When everyone comes back to the present, the discussions begin. So how do you cope with what you saw? A couple due to be married see themselves with different lives so is it pointless to go ahead knowing it will end in divorce? The man who has his murder reported in that newspaper in the future has time to seek out ways to avoid his brutal end. Now everyone wants to see if the experiment can be repeated to give everyone another look at the future.
Fascinating! I've been told that the book has little in common with the series which I haven't seen yet but definitely want to get a look at after reading the book. The characters are great, the plot doesn't go over-technical which is good as I'm not the scientific type, and you can't help wondering what you'd do if you saw a glimpse of your future. Would you want to see it? Would you try to change it or accept it as fate? My favourite part was the man trying to solve his own murder. Well worth a read!
